Welcome to The Flow!

Here, you will find observations, analyses, and reflections on modern-day events, facts, and daily acts of the quotidian life that cross my pathway.

If there is a new normal, it is uncertain, dynamic, and quite often chaotic. Many global environmental, societal, and economic demands require us to alter nearly every facet of our actions promptly, securely, and continually. We can only accomplish this monumental level of consistent transformation by developing and utilizing vast quantities of fresh concepts. These concepts encompass all fields of expertise and ideas originating from internal and external sources of various institutions.

This VUCA world keeps challenging us to navigate through a never-ending sequence of dilemmas. As Bob Johansen wrote in his book “Full Spectrum Thinking”:

  • Volatility yields to Vision – vision means having a clear intent and direction for your actions. A bold vision sees beyond volatility, with a kind of calm perspective that is not trapped by the assumptions of the present.
  • Uncertainty yields to Understanding – listening and understanding can help leaders discover new ways of thinking and acting. Listening is the basis for trust, vital to building a community.
  • Complexity yields to Clarity – leaders must help others make sense of complexity. A thoughtful leader’s quest is to be clear and accurate, simple but not simplistic.
  • Ambiguity yields to Agility – leaders must be ready for surprises, not surrender to ambiguity, and avoid paralysis and confusion. VUCA world rewards networks because they are agile. At the same time, it punishes the rigidity and brittleness of hierarchies.

Moments in the flow state are precious and cherished opportunities to be wholly absorbed in what we do, transforming our sense of time and allowing us to extract signals from noise.

I invite you to join me in these moments of flow state. Together, we can be better prepared to address the challenges and obstacles of this new "normal" with Vision, Understanding, Clarity, and Agility.
